Book smart is knowing how to read an elaborate map of the stars, and street smart is an intuitive sense of North and South. The second is more technical and academic. The first type of intelligence is highly practical, a lived-in sort of smart. There are two types of smarts in this world- street smart, and book smart. When it comes to safety, street smarts will help you get out of a jam, not book smarts.
